🏈Super Bowl Sunday! 2/9/25

The Big Game

Introduction

Hey friends! I hope you all had a fantastic Super Bowl (or Puppy Bowl, I don’t judge)—I know we sure did! Now, before we dive into this little update, you’re probably thinking, “Wait… what’s going on here?”

Glad you asked. I’ve been wanting to create a space to share what’s happening in my life with all of you. Recently, I’ve been reading a ton of newsletters, and naturally, in true self-aggrandizing fashion, I thought, “Why not make my own for friends?”

I’ve always loved vlogging, but there’s something about filming that pulls you out of the moment—it becomes more about capturing what’s next than actually living it. Writing a weekly recap feels more intentional. It’s a way to reflect and share without missing the here and now.

I have no idea how long this will last, but hey, let’s enjoy the ride while it does.

So, without further ado, here’s what’s been up with Will:

A Magical Week

This past week accidentally turned into Magic: The Gathering week. Not that I planned it, but it just sort of happened. Tuesday was a draft, Thursday was an MTG game night with friends, and Saturday was the prerelease event for Aetherdrift, the newest set. It’s space-race themed, and someone at the prerelease described it as “Mario Kart meets Magic.” Honestly, they weren’t wrong—it’s even got a blue shell card.

Is Love Blind?

Person on Show: “Hey, love is maybe not blind!”
Me: “Wow, you think?”

I’ve also been watching Love Is Blind with some friends online. We’re finally two episodes away from the finale! It’s only taken us three months to get here, but hey… progress is progress, right?

Natty Wine

A nice little date night

On Friday, we hit up Berkeley’s First Friday Festival at a cluster of natural wineries. For those unfamiliar, natural wine is made with minimal intervention and without additives like sulfites. It’s funky, unpredictable, and can be surprisingly delicious—if you find the right one. (Here’s a primer on natural wine if you’re curious.) We sipped wine, wandered through food stalls, and ended up getting Mexican food.

The Big Game

I was rooting for Philly!

To wrap up the week, we went to our favorite winery in the Port of Richmond to watch the big game with some friends. The winery projected the game on a wall, and we spent the evening sipping wine, chatting, and half-watching the football game (mostly just the commercials). I was a little worried it’d be packed, but apparently, the overlap between wine enthusiasts and football fans is very small. Basically… just us.
