☕ The First Irish Coffee in US 2/2/25

Introduction

Hey friends! I hope you all had a fantastic Week! Now, before we dive into this little update, you’re probably thinking, “Wait… what’s going on here?”

Glad you asked. I’ve been wanting to create a space to share what’s happening in my life with all of you. Recently, I’ve been reading a ton of newsletters, and naturally, in true self-aggrandizing fashion, I thought, “Why not make my own for friends?”

I’ve always loved vlogging, but there’s something about filming that pulls you out of the moment—it becomes more about capturing what’s next than actually living it. Writing a weekly recap feels more intentional. It’s a way to reflect and share without missing the here and now.

I have no idea how long this will last, but hey, let’s enjoy the ride while it does.

So, without further ado, here’s what’s been up with Will:

Big Brunch Weekend

Originally, we planned to go skiing in Tahoe this weekend, but with a winter storm rolling in—bringing 60 mph winds and Avalanche Watch alerts—we decided not to test fate and rescheduled. No regrets.

When Life Gives You a Winter Storm, You Brunch Instead!

Plan B: Brunch at a Vietnamese spot with bottomless mimosas (I went with lychee flavor) and an incredible chicken and waffle situation—mochi waffles with sweetened condensed milk drizzle. Afterward, we had an impromptu board game session, playing Wavelength, one of our favorite games. If you haven’t played it before, I highly recommend!

Cartoons and Coffee

While Rylee was at brunch on Sunday, I headed into San Francisco to do a little exploring. Here’s what went down:

An Hour Wait to Eat Here, But You Could Just Walk Up to the Bar

  • Irish Coffee at Buena Vista Café: The first place in the U.S. to serve Irish coffee (since 1952), and it did not disappoint. Even the Irish guy sitting next to me thought it was good, and that’s saying something.

  • Cartoon Art Museum: This place had a fantastic exhibit of old Sunday comics. Fun fact: The San Francisco Examiner was one of the first newspapers to feature illustrated cartoons back in 1893, leading to nationwide cartoon syndication.

  • The Museum of the Eye: A quirky little spot full of optical illusions and a

giant eyeball staring at you as you walk in. Admission was free, so Eye think it’s worth a quick visit if you’re nearby.

Foodie Corner

I know I’ve been talking about food a lot so far, but here is the stuff just on my day trip:

  • Golden Boy Pizza: Solid Detroit-style pizza. I got two slices—though honestly, one would’ve been enough.

  • Z. Cioccolato: Touted itself as having the world’s only 7-layer fudge. I have no clue the validity on that statement though. And yes, I did try it and it was incredibly decadent.
